Our National High Speed Train Takes To The Tracks – Dr. İlhami Pektaş

A New Era in Railway Technologies.

Türkiye is passing another critical milestone in high-speed train technologies. The first production of the National Electric High-Speed Train Set, capable of reaching speeds of 225 km/h, has been completed and the testing process has begun.

This development is considered a strategic turning point in terms of Türkiye’s goal to increase its domestic production capacity within the high-speed train ecosystem.

Testing Phase Begins

The first completed train set will be taken to the tracks on 6 March 2026 and will undergo a comprehensive testing programme.

During the testing phase, several key aspects will be evaluated including maximum speed performance, braking systems, operational safety, track compatibility and overall operational durability.

Once the tests are successfully completed, the train set will be introduced into operational service.

Domestic Production Share in High-Speed Train Fleet is Increasing

Currently, 31 high speed train sets are operating on Türkiye’s high speed railway lines. As part of the domestic production programme, 14 additional train sets will be produced between 2026 and 2028. Once these trains are completed, a significant portion of the high speed train fleet will consist of domestically produced units.

This development is also expected to strengthen Türkiye’s railway industry through technology transfer, the development of the local supply chain and the growth of engineering capabilities.
